Knight Online Upgrade Guide: Scrolls, Trina and Odds

In short: In Knight Online an upgrade moves an item up one plus level at the anvil, and the scroll you use sets the odds. On ChromeKO a failed upgrade loses the item, the scroll and the Noah, so check the current rates on the upgrade simulator first.

A Knight Online upgrade guide should answer one question first: which scroll should you use, and what do you lose if the attempt fails? In this guide we explain how the anvil works on ChromeKO, what each scroll does and what to check before you try. The full, current table of rates is on the upgrade simulator; the values here are examples only. Want to see it first? Try it now as a guest, no sign-up.

Knight Online upgrade guide: know your scrolls

An upgrade moves an item up one plus level at the anvil. The scroll you use decides the odds:

  • Upgrade Scroll: the basic scroll. Its odds are high on early steps and drop quickly on later ones.
  • Blessed Upgrade Scroll: clearly higher odds than the Upgrade Scroll. It is the scroll used on unique items.
  • Middle Class and Low Class Scrolls: only for items that are not unique. Middle Class works on middle and low class items, Low Class only on low class items. Compare the two in the table.
  • Trina's Piece: used together with a Blessed scroll, it raises the odds noticeably on the higher steps.

Where the table shows a dash, that scroll is not used for that step. You can check this in the simulator too.

A few example values

The full table always stays up to date on the upgrade page. These examples give you a feel for it:

  • Blessed Upgrade Scroll: +1 to +2 and +2 to +3 are both 100%.
  • Blessed Upgrade Scroll: +4 to +5 is 75%, and +6 to +7 is 25%.
  • Blessed Upgrade Scroll: +7 to +8 is only 4%.
  • Upgrade Scroll: +1 to +2 is 95%, and +3 to +4 is 50%.
  • Trina's Piece with a Blessed scroll: +5 to +6 is 75%, and +6 to +7 is 37.5%.

The pattern is clear: as the step goes up, every scroll's odds fall. So think about your final target from the start, not only the next step.

Trina and Blessed: the difference on higher steps

A Blessed scroll alone struggles on the higher steps. Adding Trina's Piece raises the same steps noticeably, so for +5 and above the Trina plus Blessed combination gives better odds than Blessed alone. The cost is having Trina ready. Trina is not sold to NPCs; it comes from drops, events and trades. You can check which monsters might give it in the drop list.

Cost, closed steps and special items

Every upgrade attempt costs 10,000 Noah. Some steps are closed: on a closed step the anvil gives no match and nothing is spent. Unique items use the Blessed Upgrade Scroll. The Blessed Item Upgrade Scroll, an event reward, raises an item from +1 to +6 by one step at 100%, up to +7.

What you lose if a try fails

If an upgrade fails, you lose the item, the scroll and the Noah. Rebuy does not help here. Rebuy gets back items that were sold or destroyed, but it does not bring back an item lost in a failed upgrade. So when you upgrade a valuable item, accept the risk before you start.

Try it free in the simulator

The upgrade simulator runs on the server's real rates and does not spend Noah. Before you touch a real item:

  1. Open the simulator and choose the item's level.
  2. Choose the scroll you are thinking of using, and Trina if you plan to use it.
  3. Try several times. One result tells you very little about your odds.
  4. Test different combinations and pick the one that fits your budget.
  5. Once you are confident, move on to the real item.

Before, after and planning your resources

An upgrade needs Noah and materials together. If one is missing, do not start the plan. Keep your materials separate, and do not sell the scrolls and Trina you pick up while hunting by accident. Write a short note for each attempt: as you record how much effort each step takes, your next decision gets more solid.

After an attempt, do not rush into repeating it. Look at the item's new level, the materials you have left and your goal. If you are not getting closer, change the material combination or spend your Noah on something else. Stop when you reach your goal or run out of budget, because every extra step costs more and carries more risk. You can find where to collect resources in the Noah farming guide and the drop list.

Choosing a scroll for each step

  • Unique items: the Blessed Upgrade Scroll is the one used, so the question is only how to plan the steps.
  • Low steps: even the Upgrade Scroll has good odds, but the gap grows as you climb. From +3 to +4 it is 50% with the Upgrade Scroll and 95% with Blessed.
  • High steps (+5 and above): prefer Trina with a Blessed scroll over Blessed alone.
  • Very high steps (+7 to +8): odds are low with every option, so check the real risk in the simulator before you go in.

A checklist before you try

  • Is the item's current level and your target clear?
  • Each attempt costs 10,000 Noah. Does your budget cover several attempts?
  • Is the step you plan to try open, not closed?
  • Are your scroll and Trina ready, or will you run short halfway?
  • If it fails, are you ready to lose the item, the scroll and the Noah?

A 50% step does not mean every second try succeeds; each try is its own chance. The odds describe the long-run outcome.

Common mistakes

  • Upgrading a real item without testing in the simulator first.
  • Raising the level again and again without a goal.
  • Starting before you have enough materials or Noah.
  • Expecting Rebuy to bring back an item lost in a failed upgrade.
