Karus or El Morad: How to Choose Your Nation in Knight Online

In short: Karus or El Morad? On ChromeKO your nation decides who you play on the same side with, which castle and king you support, and which side you fight for in nation wars. Check which nation your friends are in before you choose.

Karus or El Morad? On ChromeKO this is one of the most important questions to answer before you create your first character. Your nation decides who you will be on the same side with, and it shapes castles, king elections and nation wars across much of the game. This guide explains what each nation means and how to make your choice. To see the game for yourself, try it now as a guest without signing up.

Karus or El Morad: two nations, two castles

ChromeKO has two nations: Karus and El Morad. Each has its own castle. Luferson Castle belongs to Karus and El Morad Castle to El Morad. Each nation has a king, chosen by election. You can follow castle and king status on the war page.

So the nation you pick is more than a cosmetic choice. It affects which castle you support, who can become king, and which side you fight for in nation wars.

What your choice affects

Friends and clans. In Knight Online, players from opposite nations are rivals and normally cannot play in the same party. Check which nation your friends are in first. Hunting, quests and clan life are all easier when everyone is on the same side. If you plan to join a clan, ask which nation it is in, and read our classes guide while you decide.

Nation wars and events. Lunar War is the large war between the two nations, and Border Defense War is another event where nations face each other. Check the events page for the calendar. If you want to take part in these battles, choose the side that fights in them. See our BDW guide for how it works.

Castles and kings. Kings are chosen by election, and castle ownership matters. The clan that owns Delos castle, and its tax, are part of the same system. Read our Castle Siege and Delos guide to understand sieges and elections.

Maps and zones. Check level ranges and monster spawn areas on the maps.

Are you a battler or a relaxed player?

If you want nation wars, events and castle fights, your side needs to be in them. If you mostly want to hunt, complete quests and spend time with friends, your friends matter most. Pick the direction that matches you.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Following a friend's advice without thinking about your own playstyle.
  • Choosing only by the name or colour of the nation.
  • Judging a whole nation from one name on the rankings.
  • Ignoring castles and kings, then being surprised by them later.

If you are new

Without friends in the game, choosing a nation can feel hard. Progress with quests and get to know the game first, but still look at the nation's castle, king and events before you decide. For a step-by-step path, start with our beginner guide.

Find clans and players

The clan ranking shows which clans exist. The player ranking shows players who stand out by National Point and level. You can message a clan or player you find there and start getting to know them. Our clan guide explains how to create or join a clan.

Is there a wrong nation?

There is no known "wrong nation". What matters is that the nation fits your play style, your friends and your goals. If your style turns out different from what you expected, that is a normal part of the game.

A checklist before you choose

  1. Which nation are the friends you want to play with in?
  2. Do you want nation wars and events, or calm hunting?
  3. Do you plan to create a clan or join an existing one?
  4. Are you interested in castles and king elections?

If most answers point to one nation, that is probably your choice. If they don't agree, let your friends and clan decide.

Also think about your routine: how much time you can play each day, which hours you like, and when your friends are online. A nation that fits this routine will be more enjoyable. Check the events page for event times.

Check the rankings, but don't decide on them alone

The ranking page lists players by National Point (NP), level and monthly NP. Rankings show past progress. They don't show whether a nation fits your play style or your friends.

After you choose

Frequently asked questions

Is Karus or El Morad better?

There is no single "best" nation. The right choice depends on where your friends are and what style of play you enjoy.

Is the nation choice only about looks?

No. Castles, king elections and nation wars shape a large part of the game through nations.

What if my friend is in the other nation?

Players from different nations normally cannot play in the same party. Talk with your friend before you both pick.
